Controller

In short

The GymusMaximus app stores your data exclusively on your iPhone (and, during a workout, on your paired Apple Watch). There are no user accounts, no servers, no tracking, no advertising, and no sharing with third parties. The developer has no access to your data. This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics.

Part 1: The app

Data the app processes

• Training plans, routines and workouts with sets, weights, reps, RPE and notes
• Body weight and body measurements that you enter or import from Apple Health
• Progress photos that you take or select
• Your gyms with their equipment and – only if you set it – their location
• Settings (e.g. color, unit, prefill, deload, weekly and muscle goals, training goal, reminders)

All of this data is stored locally on your device.

Apple Health

With your permission, the app reads from Apple Health:

• Body weight and body fat percentage – to calculate bodyweight exercises correctly and to import measurements
• Workouts from other apps (endurance and sports types only, such as running, cycling, swimming) – so the muscle map accounts for that load; traditional strength workouts from other apps are not counted

The app writes completed workouts, as well as body weight and body fat percentage you enter, to Health. During a workout, the Apple Watch app records heart rate and calories and saves the workout to Health.

Health data is not transferred to any server, not shared with third parties, and not used for advertising. You can revoke access at any time in the Health app or in iOS Settings.

Progress photos and camera

With your permission, the app uses the camera for progress photos. Alternatively, you choose photos from your library – the app only receives the photos you select and reads their capture date from the photo metadata. Photos are stored in the app's storage on your iPhone and are never sent to the developer or third parties. They are not included in the app's own backups and exports (JSON, CSV, PDF). Like all app data, they are part of your iOS device backup (iCloud or computer) if you use it. They are deleted when you delete them in the app or delete the app.

Location (optional)

Only if you turn on "Choose gym by location" under Settings → Gyms & Equipment (off by default): when you open the app, your location is determined once and compared with the locations of your gyms so the matching gym becomes active. The app uses location only while it is open ("While Using the App"), never in the background. Your location is not stored and never leaves your iPhone; only the gym locations you set yourself are saved. You can turn the feature off at any time and revoke the permission in iOS Settings.

Apple Watch

During a workout, iPhone and Apple Watch exchange the workout status (sets, rest timer, heart rate) directly via Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. No server is involved.

Lock Screen and widgets

If you wish, the app shows the current workout as a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island (can be turned off under Settings → Training). The Home Screen widget shows your next workout. Both are generated on your device; the data they use stays on the device.

Notifications

With your permission, the app shows local notifications, for example when a rest period or countdown ends, as a workout reminder, or when progress photos are due. These notifications are created on your device; no data is sent.

Backups, export and import

You create backups and exports (JSON, CSV, PDF) yourself. They are created locally and only transferred where you share them, for example iCloud Drive, AirDrop or Mail. Automatic backups are stored in the app's folder and are accessible via the Files app. When importing (e.g. from Strong or Hevy), the app only reads the file you select and processes it on the device.

iCloud sync

Once the app offers sync via iCloud, your data will be stored encrypted in your personal iCloud account. The developer has no access to it. Using it is optional.

Purchases

All features are currently free; the app does not offer any purchases. Should a subscription be added later, it will be handled by Apple's App Store – the app does not receive any payment data, and Apple's privacy policy applies.

Analytics and advertising

The app contains no analytics, tracking or advertising software.

Part 2: This website and email

Hosting and server logs

This website is hosted by Infomaniak Network SA, Geneva (Switzerland). When you open a page, the server processes technically necessary information: IP address, date and time, the page requested, browser and operating system, and the referring page. This data is used solely to operate the site securely and reliably; it is not combined with other data and not analyzed. For users in the EU, the legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

No cookies, no third-party content

This website sets no cookies, contains no analytics or tracking tools and loads no content from third parties (e.g. no external fonts or videos).

Contact by email

If you email me, I use your address and the content only to answer your request. Emails are stored with the email provider Infomaniak (Switzerland). I delete them once they are no longer needed and no legal retention obligations apply. Legal basis in the EU: Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR.

Your rights

Since all app data is stored only on your device, you are always in full control there: you can view it in the app, export it, and remove it completely by deleting the app.

For data I process (emails, server logs), you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and – if you live in the EU – under the GDPR. Contact support@gymusmaximus.com. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority: in Switzerland the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), in the EU the authority of your country of residence.

Changes

This policy is updated when the app or website changes. The current version is always available on this page and in the app under Settings → About → Privacy Policy.
